In my experience and those of my friends, your body composition will not visibly change (ratio of fat to muscle), but you will get noticeably smaller.

Before you begin a fast, it is good to check with your doctor and get his or her approval. Some people are at great risk if they fast, so please talk to your doctor or do a good amount of research first.

The week-long fast starts the night before where you should consume lots of water, fruit, and rough vegetables to help clean out your intestines. Then you simply do not eat for the next several days (up to a week for a beginner), and transition back to eating by consuming mild broths. I recommend boiling a tomato in a pot with half a gallon of water and consuming half for your first meal. Eat the rest of the broth a few hours later. Have some more broth with some mild vegetables that are boiled – consume very little and gradually increase the amount over the next several meals. The longer you fast, the slower this transition has to be.

Finally, a few tips on the experience. You will be very hungry for most of the first day, the second day will not be nearly as bad, and then afterwards you will have little energy but also little or no hunger. When you transition back to eating, you will perhaps have some of the strongest food cravings you have ever experienced. You must resist eating more than I have outlined or you will likely get very sick and wind-up in the hospital.

Changing My Body

I have been experimenting recently with ways to make my body more the way I want it.It’s not so much due to vanity as the fact that I feel time is catching up with me!

Firstly, I have been using anti-aging creams (a long-term measure I know, but a sensible one since I am already 52). They seem pretty expensive but hopefully they will be worth it. I don’t expect them to make me look any younger but hopefully they can slow the snowball effects of getting older!
