There’s been a lot of talk by diet and fitness experts lately regarding fat burning foods and how they can be used to help burn and eliminate excess fat from the body. Fat or lipids is the adipose tissue of the body that serves as an energy reserve. The body needs this energy to sustain normal function and life, but when there it too much fat, health is impaired.
Diets work for the short term but never last for the long haul. The two best ways to eliminate unwanted fat from the body is change of diet and fat burning workouts (three times a week moderate level cardio). Change of diet means changing eating habits to include healthier foods. This is not always easy because human beings have a tendency to resist change and especially in the foods they love to eat. It is a matter of choice and health choosing gradually to change eating habits.
Oatmeal (not the instant with sugar and other preservatives but the unsweetened kind) speeds up the body’s metabolism and helps to burn fat and lower cholesterol (the type of lipid or fat that is bad for the body is low density lipoproteins as compared to high density lipoproteins or good cholesterol). Starches are another excellent fat burner especially potatoes and yams.
Olive oil is the best type of cooking oil. It helps food in the digestive process and flushes out unwanted toxins from the body including the bad lipids. It is a much better choice than any vegetable or canola oils which do contain bad fats and cholesterol.
Vegetables are excellent fat burning foods such as: lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower, and garlic. The only downside is the type of dressing used. All bottled dressings contain cholesterol and fat. The best type of dressing to use is vinegar and oil (olive oil).
Fish is another wonderful food for getting rid of unwanted lipids with the exception of shellfish that contain a lot of cholesterol and fat. Shellfish should be eaten in moderation but other types of fish can be consumed regularly.
